1. A

   Key feature A

   Repeated episodes of arousal during sleep associated with vocalisation and/or complex motor behaviours

2. B

   Key feature B

   These behaviours arise during REM sleep and therefore occur usually >90 min after sleep onset; are more frequent during the later portions of the sleep period; and uncommonly occur during daytime naps

3. C

   Key feature C

   Upon awakening from these episodes, the individual is completely awake, alert, and not confused or disoriented

4. D

   Key feature D

   Either of: REM sleep without atonia on polysomnographic recording; history of RBD + established synucleinopathy diagnosis

5. E

   Key feature E

   Not attributable to physiological effects of a substance or medication; not better explained by coexisting mental/medical disorders

Acute

Recent onset, typically associated with a clear precipitant (e.g. antidepressant initiation, withdrawal).

Subacute

Onset over weeks to months.

Chronic

Symptoms persisting for months to years.

With comorbid neurodegenerative disorder

Occurs in the context of Parkinson's disease, Lewy body disease, MSA, or other synucleinopathies.
