Extremely clean drug interaction profile. Highly safe to mix with most ward medications.

Monitoring

Check eGFR to guide correct dosing tier (100/50/25). Routine HbA1c. Warn patient to report severe, radiating upper abdominal pain immediately (pancreatitis).

Clinical Pearl

DPP-4 inhibitors work by saving the body's natural GLP-1. If a patient is already taking a synthetic GLP-1 agonist (like Ozempic or Trulicity), adding Sitagliptin provides absolutely zero extra benefit. They should never be prescribed together.
